One way you can travel is by backpacking across another country or the country that you are already in. You might think it is crazy but it is honestly something that is very popular. You just have to plan carefully and make sure you are ready for the adventure. If this is something you would be interested in doing here are some tips; make sure you have money saved for your trip and accidentals, ( just because you are backpacking doesn’t mean you aren’t spending money), if you are couch surfing or staying in a hostel download the hostel app and the couchsurfing app or go to hostel word and read the reviews. This will be really important if you want to travel on a budget. If not you definitely can find hotels or an air bnb. If you pay for certain things you should check to see if you can put the bill on hold. Check in with your cell phone provider, your car insurance and student loan company. Have fun and enjoy!
2. Volunteering Abroad
Another way to travel the world is through volunteering. There are so many different programs whether you want to go to Europe, South America and even Africa. They different programs range from teaching English to community outreach. When it comes to volunteering you usually do have to pay for your flight but usually your volunteering will “pay” for your housing. There are some programs that you may have to pay for room and board and some programs are free. Some programs that I know about are; IHVQ, Go Abroad and Teach abroad. This is a really good way to meet people and even gain some new skills. As well as a resume booster, cause nowadays you need to put everything on there to find a job. lol
3. Teaching English Abroad
If you are ready to embark on an adventure in another country this may be for you. Whether you want to learn a new language or travel the world. This is a great opportunity for recent graduates who might not want to go in the real world or just want a break. You definitely need to do your research on the country you want to go to. There are a lot of programs that are in Asia and Europe. You can even go to South America. The internet is your best friend with this there are so many teach English ads that you can just google it and you will be able to find at least one program. I would suggest maybe join facebook groups and look up videos on youtube. Those will help you learn a plethora of information about teaching in another country.
4. Adult Gap year
Now this is one of the things I can not wait to do because we all need a break. After being in school for so long you need a break either mentally or physically. A gap year is just a break, a lot of people are taking them now and the best time to plan is now. Think about why you want to go on a gap year. This will help you plan your trip better, I do recommend saving up some money though. Whether you are going on a 3 month, 6 month or a whole year make sure you have a plan. You don’t have to be detailed but knowing that your money may go further in South East Asia then Europe. Researching is the biggest thing you can do in this situation to just make sure you know what is going on when you are traveling. If you want more information you should definitely look up Stephanie Perry on youtube. She gives great tips and advice. There are also a lot more people if you search on youtube you are destined to find someone.
5. Peace Corps
Do you want to have a life changing experience in about 24-27 months? Well if you do this may be for you if you like to give back to the community and meet like minded people. Service is a really big thing if it is important to you. I think this is really a great opportunity because you can honestly go anywhere in the world. You can also do something that you are passionate about or something that you studied. I would check the requirements for age stimulation and things of that sort though. If you would like to make a difference and have a life changing experience check this out.
Out of these five examples which one would you see yourself doing or have you done before?
Below I have linked my youtube video of 17 jobs that will pay you to travel the world.
